Mountain Wetlands of the Cowpasture River Valley (Field Trip)

Explore rare mountain wetlands and their fascinating aquatic wildlife. These special habitats are known as “vernal pools” and were featured in the 2016 Spring issue of THE RIVER RUNS. New sites for this year are Alleghany Mountain Sinkhole Ponds on national forest in Bath County at Wide Draft and Tower Hill Mountain. ($10 per person; limit of 20 people).
