About the Artist:

My journey as a pastelist began in the summer of 2017. I am especially fond of plein air painting right at home in my garden and the Staunton and Augusta County areas. Every day is a new day to appreciate how unique the setting is for painting cloud formations, sunny or overcast, perennials blooming at their specific times and capturing the beauty of seasonal changes. Nature inspires me to to honor her beauty. “I would like to paint the way a bird sings,” a quote by Claude Monet.

I grew up in an art infused world; my grandfather was a fine artist and illustrator, and my mother was a fine artist, especially in portrait painting. I studied calligraphy and figure drawing at the Art Students League in NYC and majored in art history at Skidmore College and completed an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. I am a member of the Mid Atlantic Pastel Society and won first place (Amateur category) in the Beverely Street Studio Staunton Paint Out 2019. I studied with Richard McKinley in a pastel plein air workshop in France in the summer of 2018 and attend many studio and plein air workshops with Beverley Street Studio School, Mid Atlantic Pastel Society, and Pastel Society of America, NYC. I attended the Cowpasture River Society Artist Retreat 2023 and got lost in the joy of plein air painting. This year I have added acrylic painting skills which I find very exciting. I am an active watercolor sketch artist with Sketch Staunton, and I also sketch on NYC streets. Since 2017 I have been exploring new roads as I evolve as an artist!
